Problem :

For millions of Nigerians, the path to real estate wealth runs into a wall of prohibitive costs. Instead of buying whole properties, users can buy tiny digital brick units starting as low as ₦1,500, and earn rental income from apartments, hostels, co-working spaces, malls, and short-let properties.

Research :

Before designing BrickMint, I explored how people perceive real estate investing through interviews and observation of existing platforms.

I spoke with 8 young professionals, and while most were interested in investing, only 2 had ever invested in real estate. A common pattern was the assumption that real estate requires millions to get started, which immediately discouraged them.

Trust was another major concern. Around 75% of participants said they would avoid platforms that felt unclear about returns, risks, or how the system works. Interestingly, they didn’t want less information — they wanted clearer, more transparent information.

I also found that most users preferred to start small, with comfortable entry points between ₦1,000 – ₦10,000.

These insights shaped BrickMint into a platform focused on low entry, clear communication, and building trust, helping users feel confident enough to take their first step into real estate investing and the outcomes.

Solution :

The final product is a structured web application that guides users through the full investment journey.

Users can browse a marketplace of verified properties, view detailed breakdowns of each investment, and purchase fractional units based on their budget. Each property page presents clear financial data, risk levels, and expected returns to support informed decisions.

Once invested, users can monitor their portfolio through a dashboard that highlights total value, rental income, and upcoming payouts. A built-in wallet system allows users to manage funds, while a secondary marketplace provides flexibility to buy or sell their investment units.

Throughout the platform, the experience remains consistent — calm, transparent, and focused on helping users understand exactly what is happening with their money.

Allow Brick purchases for as low as ₦1,500 so any earner can start immediately without large lump sums.

My Approach :

I approached BrickMint as a financial system rather than just a visual design project. This meant focusing on how users think and behave when money is involved.

Instead of prioritizing visual appeal alone, I focused on clarity, transparency, and logical flow. Each screen was designed to answer a specific question in the user’s mind from understanding investment opportunities to tracking returns.
